December 2010

Winter has arrived with a bang.

No fear of not having sprouts in our farm shop, we have managed to harvest the sprouts, so come to the farm shop for the tastiest sprouts around.

The severe frost has made it difficult to harvest, but we plod away and will endeavour to have enough veggies in the shop.

Monday 20th September 2010

As I sit updating the web site it is quite clear that the nights are drawing in, it's only 7.30pm and already its dark outside.

However it means a new dawn for some of my favourite veggies.

Parsnips, leeks and squash's are slowly creeping in and will be in most of the veg boxes within the next few weeks.

For a busy mum like me it means the slow cooker re-appears on the worktop and meals are left to slowly cook throughout the day and if you set the bread maker as well it means when we eventually return to the house there is a fabulous smell of soups or casseroles with warm bread to mop up the juices.

I recently bought a book devoted to one pot cooking and if you thought only casseroles and soups were possible well think again, look out for it at Roxton Garden Centre and be inspired by your slow cooker.

22nd January 2010

I am delighted to tell you that this week Alistair Burt MP for North-East Bedfordshire today sang the praises of our veg box scheme and the farm shop in parliament. It is a huge honour for little old us to be mentioned alongside the big boys like Jordan's.

Our thanks go to Alistair who certainly knows his onions!!
